Getting around
Houston is a driving city, but this address has one advantage most don’t: a park-and-ride rail station six minutes away that goes straight into the Medical Center.
METRORail Red Line
Fannin South station is six minutes by car and has a free park-and-ride lot. The Red Line runs north through Reliant Park, into the Medical Center — Dryden/TMC, Memorial Hermann/Houston Zoo, TMC Transit Center — then on through Midtown to Downtown. Medical Center in about ten minutes, Downtown in about twenty-five.
For anyone working at TMC this is the single biggest reason to live here. A garage permit on campus runs well over a hundred dollars a month and you still queue to get in. Service thins out after midnight, so night-shift residents generally drive.
Driving
- Loop 610 — immediately north of us. West to Galleria, east to I-45.
- TX-288 — two minutes east. Straight into Downtown and the Medical Center, or south to Pearland.
- Fannin Street — the surface route north into TMC. Slower than the freeway at peak but far more predictable.
- I-45 — about ten minutes, for Galveston or the north side.
Parking here
Open parking is included. Covered and reserved spaces are available for a monthly fee — ask the office what’s free in the building you’re looking at, since it varies. Visitor parking is outside the leasing office.
Groceries and errands
H-E-B and Kroger are both within about ten minutes. Costco and Target are on the other side of 610. There is no walkable grocery — this is not that kind of neighbourhood, and we would rather say so plainly.
Airports
- Hobby (HOU) — about 20 minutes via I-610 east
- Bush Intercontinental (IAH) — about 35 minutes via TX-288 and I-45, longer at peak
